Mother and Baby

So why would you want to eat your placenta?

For starters, it contains these amazing nutrients!

The most important nutrients found in rich supply in the placenta include:

  • Stem Cells and Growth Factors.

  • Iron – essential for oxygen absorption in the cells.

  • Vitamins B6 – aids in the making of antibodies.

  • Vitamin E – for healing damaged skin cells.

  • Oxytocin hormone – essential for facilitating birth and breastfeeding.

  • Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) – responsible for reducing stress levels.

  • Cytokines – Fibroblasts that trigger cell metabolism healing and replacing damaged cells and tissue.

Mothers and parents have reported experiencing several benefits after consuming their placenta but if you don't believe them, just take a look at the research here

ENCAPSULATION

Placenta capsules are the most popular way people choose to consume their placenta.

The placenta is washed and either dehydrated raw or steamed with herbs and then dehydrated. The dehydrated placenta is then ground into a fine powder and inserted into empty vegetable capsules. Most mothers take between 1-6 capsules a day, as and when they feel they need them, for up to 6 months after birth.

SMOOTHIE

A smoothie offers new mothers the chance to benefit from the nutrients of the placenta immediately or in the early days following birth.

High concentrations of birth hormones and placenta stem cells in raw placenta can provide a new mother with the energy and nutrients needed to heal faster, produce more milk and feel stronger after birth.

TINCTURE

A tincture is made from a thumb sized piece of the raw placenta after birth.  The placenta is steeped in high strength vodka for 6 weeks, extracting the energetic healing powers of the placenta changing the colour of the vodka from clear to light brown.

A tincture has no shelf life and is useful for hormonal balancing from PMS to menopause. Recommended dosage is between 10-40 drops a day as and when needed.
