My Story

I have been supporting new and expectant families as a Doula since 2014 and during this time I completed 2 years of advanced training with the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM), trained as a Placenta Remedies Specialist and a Hypnobirthing practitioner, and I have taken on regular education to develop my skills and knowledge in the birth world.

Prior to training as a Doula, I spent a few years employed by the NHS as a Maternity Support Worker, working alongside midwives and Healthcare Professionals on my local labour ward and in the community.

Before that, I spent more than 5 years training in complementary therapies and working as a Holistic Therapist.  More recently, I have been furthering my training in essential oils and I am soon to become a certified Aromatherapist.  I am complimenting this with training in herbalism so that I am able to support families who wish to take a more natural approach to health and wellbeing.

What to expect if you choose to work with me...

I would like you to feel completely comfortable and confident when you decide to work with me, in whatever capacity that is. So here's a little bit of extra information about me, my philosophy and how I like to work.

I'm a little bit of a hippy at heart but don't let that fool you into thinking I'm all light and fluffy! When it comes to supporting individuals and families, I am fiercely passionate about birth rights and choice and I will do my utmost to ensure you have all the information you need to be able to feel confident in your choices and decisions, whatever they may be.

I believe in providing holistic care and support.

What do I mean by that?

When I refer to holistic care, I am talking about providing support from a whole person-led approach.

I do not offer one size fits all support.

You are an individual with unique needs, both physical and emotional, and my care will reflect this - my support is tailormade and unique to you and your circumstances.

I am a pro-choice doula.

This means that I respect your right to personal choice, regardless of my own thoughts or opinions.

I consider my role to be one of providing you with evidence based research and anecdotal information which you can use, alongside any medical advice you are given, to make informed decisions with regard to your care.

I will not advise you and I definitely will not coerce you - your decisions are yours to make and own.

I am a fierce birth activist, passionate about protecting birth rights and campaigning for improvements in Maternity care.

I work ethically and honestly.

Life does not always come with guarantees but what I can promise you is that I will be upfront and honest with you and that I will always be working with your best interests at heart.
